Reading Bean

It is official.
Bean has read two books by sounding out the words.
Two of the Bob books. She's working on the third book now.

So, just shy of 4.5 the Bean is reading!

Those of you who know us IRL will realize how happy we are. We have more books than sense in this house :-)

Spooky Bean Mot

Said last night while I was getting up from her good night snuggle:

"Oh mommy I'm so worried."
"what are you worried about Bean."
"I'm worried about your choices, you are making some bad choices."
"what would those be, Bean?"
"Not to stay here and snuggle me until I fall asleep. That is a bad choice mommy."

And yesterday we went for a walk in the graveyard that is about two blocks from our house (did that influence our decision to live in this house? you decide.)
Our usual thing is to feed the ducks then wander around putting the fallen flowers to rights.

Bean ran up to a particularly spooky celtic cross monument and struck the pose every goth girl in history has taken in a cemetary. It was spot on. I so wish I had a camera, but we'll be going again next week (we do that a lot in spring, fall and early winter)and I'm sure it will happen again.

So even though her parents look much more like muggles now than ever, it just proves it is in the blood. Um, so to speak.

Tut Tut it looks like Rain

Now WHY didn't I upload this sooner?

If it's choppy the first time through, let it play once then hit play again.

Emily being Christopher Robin last Spring.

Which gets me to being rather ticked off at how many boys Emily has to identify with when she wants to be the hero, the protagonist, sometimes in a story at all.

More on that coming

New School

Emily at her New SchoolEmily at her New School

This is the Bean on her first day at her new school

We took the Bean to her first day at her new school. Not even a teeny tiny problem. Not one. She hugged her new teacher, shouted "HI" at random kids and immediately jumped in. This is a rather confident, secure child we have. I'm so amazed at her ability to roll with change and see it as an adventure. She woke up this morning early saying "YAY, today I start my new school!" She told me Friday that while it was sad to leave her old school, she'll see her friends and that her new school is a big girl adventure. That is one impressive Bean.

James took the day off. We both took her to school, then as I teared up, we went to Dickson for breakfast at Common Grounds (our favorite place) and then to the amazing Dickson street bookstore--two buildings worth of used books, stacked to the ceiling. Our idea of heaven.

More on the Bean and her old school/new school coming up.
